1960 Jaguar MKII Sedan The Jaguar MKII is widely regarded as the world's first sports sedan. Its performance abilities were heightened due to its optional new 3.8 liter engine and advanced features that included tachometer, a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, and four-speed gearbox with overdrive. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph occurred in just 8.5 seconds reaching a top speed of 125 mph. In 1961, the MKII broke four world records in the 3 - 5 liter class, averaging 106.58 mph over 10,000 miles. Additionally, the MKII dominated saloon car racing and even the Tour de France, which it won from 1960 to 1963--a very impressive feat! This gave the MKII panache among the London gangsters as it became known as the preferred getaway car and added to the charm of the "Swinging 60's." More recently, the MKII had been made popular by regular appearances on the BBC television show "Inspector Morse" which gives it an added bit of style and elegance. This luxurious black finished MKII 3.8 (chassis no. 212739) received a no-expense-spared award-winning restoration by Harbor Auto Restoration (Frank Tetro) of Rockledge, Florida. A modern five-speed T5 gearbox was an added feature to the otherwise all-original mechanical and full cosmetic restoration. The biscuit leather interior, well-preserved polished walnut dash, and Wilton wool carpeting make this an exceptionally attractive automobile to drive. The front seats recline and are a rare factory option. The Derrington wood-rimmed wheel and chrome wire wheels and radial tires add to this already stunning Jaguar. Truly an award winning automobile, 212739 won the National AACA S.F. Edge Award for Best Restored Foreign in the US in 2001. It earned 99.960 points and Best in Class at the JCNA South Florida competition in 2002, followed by the AACA's Grand National Senior Award. In 2006, it received Best in Class at the Palm Beach International Concours. After undergoing a meticulous inspection and detail at Canepa Design, this MKII is offered with a complete tool kit, spare tire and wheel, jack, and owner's handbook. It is in concours condition--ready for show and driving. -
