It enabled the company to compete for the first time with Ferrari (and beat them) in the super car market. These cars are the most sought after street Porsches of their era, with the factory "Slant Nose" cars being the best of the best. This very special example has only 7,089 miles of use and is in BRAND NEW condition. Always given the best of care it could easily win a Concours. In addition to the factory "Slant Nose" option this 1988 Porsche 9s0S was also the first of its kind to be equipped new from the factory with a G50 5-speed transmission. Canepa Design has recently upgraded the car with a NEW European specification FACTORY ORIGINAL 930S front spoiler. Due to DOT regulations, the 930s delivered to the US did not come equipped with this spoiler. The original US specification lower valiance comes with the car. Porsche made its first and most significant upgrades to the 930 in 1978, enlarging the engine to 3.3 liters and adding an air-to-air intercooler. By cooling the pressurized air charge, the intercooler helped increase power output to 300 hp; the rear 'whale tail' spoiler was re-profiled and raised slightly to make room for the intercooler. Porsche also upgraded the brakes to units similar to those used on the 917 racecar. Porsche offered the Flachbau (slant nose) option in 1981. This new body style was inspired by the racing 935 Porsches which had their standard headlights "shaved off" for better aerodynamic downforce. The slant-nose package consisted of a new front fenders comprising the now-familiar Flachbau nose with flip-up headlamps and louvers, plus wide 935-type rear fenders with grilled, forward-facing rectangular air scoops and extended rocker panels. It all came from Zuffenhausen's new Sonderwunsch (special wish) department, a sort of in-house customizing operation. For 1988, the Slant Nose Modification was made a separate model called Porsche 930S, again available for all body styles. -
