1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe VIN: WP0JB0937KS050588 401 original miles Second to last 930 Turbo produced Tourist delivery Highly optioned This is the second to last 930 Turbo produced by Porsche. Picked up from the factory as a Porsche Tourist Delivery car in July of 1989 by William Dexheimer of San Antonio, Texas. The story begins when Dexheimer, a former regional President of the PCA, took a flight in the extremely rare, Porsche Carrera powered, Mooney PFM aircraft. On landing he encountered an employee of Porsche assigned to the experimental aircraft who encouraged him to make the jump to a Turbo from his current 944. An engineer by trade, Dexheimer set about meticulously planning what he wanted in a Turbo. First, he wanted every option that would lend the car to speed and drivability. The car has a locking differential, short shifter, and extremely rare to the 930, a LED boost gauge. By the time Dexheimer got around to ordering the car there was only one American sped'd 930 left to be made. With some help from the local dealer in San Antonio, and a quick trade on their part, the car was his. The next step was to go to Germany and collect the car personally. When the day came to meet his car in the courtyard at the factory he was met by a small contingent of employees who wanted to see off the second to last 930. The last 930 would remain in the factory for another year being customized beyond recognition. The unique moment was only soured by the fact that the wheels where the wrong color. The wheels had been ordered white with white caps, and what sat in front of him were the standard black wheels and caps. Not to be deterred, he took possession of the car with the promise that the wheels would be corrected stateside, as the factory was shutting down the following week for their summer break. With that he drove the car directly to the docks to have it prepped and loaded. When the car arrived at his dealership in San Antonio the wheels had been corrected, but not to Dexheimer's exacting standards. His intent was to show the car, and the wheels had only been painted on the exterior. So the car was brought home, put on jacks, the wheels removed, and sent back to Porsche for a respray. He used the time to personally remove all of the cosmoline spray that was put on at the port to protect the car while shipping. Months passed, and the wheels where still not back from Porsche. The car had been parked in his garage under the attic access doors, and it was time to get the Christmas decorations out. Enough was enough, and using his contacts at Porsche a few calls were made and the wheels reappeared correctly painted by the factory. In the months while the car sat Dexheimer's business took off. By the time the Turbo was back on its feet he had no time to drive his new purchase. Years began to pass, and it struck him that perhaps it was best to keep the car pristine and undriven. The mileage when he sold the car in late 2011 was only 291 miles ... all of those miles driven to car shows and concours. 50588 won every show it entered, and in competition never received lower than 298 points out of 300. The second owner put 100 miles on the car after having it completely serviced. Since its arrival at Canepa it has been treated to a suite of services to ensure that the car lives up to its 400-mile legacy. It is now ready for another owner to win concours, or, if you dare, put on a few Turbo miles.
