Triumph Trident for sale in Scotts Valley, California

1969 Triumph Trident 750 Slippery Sam VIN: CC02137 This Trident is an exact replica of Triumph's most famous race bike, Slippery Sam, which won five consecutive Isle of Man Production TT races from 1971 - 1975. By exact, we mean exact, even more correct than the bike that sits in the National Motorcycle Museum in England. Commissioned by a Quail winning motorcycle collector in 2011, it was built by Triumph Triple specialist, Jerry Liggett, of Triple Tecs in California under the guidance of Les Williams, who prepared and built the original Slippery Sam. Liggett even flew to England to meet with Williams to ensure that every detail was precisely replicated. The entire process would take 3 years, and the result is spectacular. The one-off tank was reproduced by Evan Wilcox, and matches the original exactly. The engine was rebuilt to the same race spec as the 1975 TT winning bike, and sounds as only a Triumph race triple can. The frame was perfectly modified as per the original factory build, with the engine held higher in the cradle. Nothing was overlooked. This replica is road registered in CA and comes with a period CA black plate. It has wiring ready for headlights (just as the original had at the 1970 Bol d'Or 24 Hour Race in France, where it got its nickname) and a taillight. The thought of riding Slippery Sam on the track is an intoxicating notion for any Triumph fan, but being able to ride it on the street is even more thrilling.
